CALI*KANAKA*SOUL

Music was never just music to me, It was where I went when I needed hope. It was the language I used when words were not enough. It carried me through grief, uncertainty, illness, growth, and change. It helped me make sense of the world around me.

For much of my life, I thought these songs were only for me. Now I understand they were preparing me for something larger.

As a Cali-born Kanaka Maoli and Japanese songwriter, I believe music connects us—to ourselves, to each other, to our ancestors, and to the stories that shape us. This project is rooted in aloha, identity, community, and the responsibility of carrying forward the gifts we inherit.

If these songs can help someone feel seen, find hope, remember where they come from, reconnect with their ancestors, or strengthen their connection to community, then they are fulfilling the purpose they were always meant to serve.

Music gave my spirit a reason to keep going.

Cali Kanaka Soul is not the beginning of my songwriting journey.

It is the beginning of sharing the stories, places, and people that shaped it.
